Ojo: The "Cholo Word Of The Day" is simply for fun. This is not an academic exercise, therefore I do not spend much time checking for espelling or grammatical errors. Most of the words are not only used by "cholos," but by many people in S. Texas - and their usage can vary. c/s

Cholo Word of the Day - Neta

Neta is usually used to affirm something.

Word:
Neta, or Es La Mera Neta

Meaning According To DT:
really!, it's the truth, no joke, i'm serious, no lie, or the one

Used in a sentence:
"Ey, shorty va ir a law school con los lawyers aquellos, y luego me puede sacar de el bote. Neta."

"Neta Chief? Dile que me tire esquina a mi tambien. Va ser la mera neta."

Translation according to DT:
"Excuse me, Mr. Vertically Challenged will be attending law school in preparation of becoming a lawyer at which time he'll be able to represent me if I am ever unjustly incarcerated. That's the truth."

"Really, Chief? Please advice him that I may seek his counsel as well. He's going to be the real deal."

a flor de piel ( readily present in a person’s expression and nature)
a quema ropa (directly, straight out, point blank)
caer de cajón (to go without saying, be obvious)

This is according to my Streetwise Spanish Dictionary.
